Bidang Spesialis Bedah Mulut & Maksilofasial menangani perawatan kelainan di rongga mulut seperti gigi bungsu yang terpendam atau tumbuh miring, implan gigi, kecelakaan yang menyebabkan patah tulang rahang, kelainan celah bibir dan celah langit-langit serta tumor di rongga mulut. Spesialis bedah mulut menangani pasien yang memerlukan pembedahan, yang mana terdiri dari dua tipe pembedahanyaitu:
- Pembedahan Minor adalah pembedahan dengan anestesi lokal biasanya dilakukan pada pengambilan gigi belakang yang tumbuhnya miring atau yang tidak dapat tumbuh dan juga dapt dilakukan untuk penghalusan tulang dimana ada tonjolan tulang yang tajam sebelum pembuatan gigi palsu.
- Pembedahan Mayor adalah pembedahan dengan anestesi umum biasanya dilakukan pada kasus rahang yang patah atau pengangkatan tumor yang besar.

- Odontektomi (suatu tindakan bedah untuk mengeluarkan gigi bungsu yang impaksi).
- Implan gigi (gigi tiruan yang paling mirip dengan gigi asli).
- Ekstirpasi kista (tindakan pengangkatan seluruh massa kista beserta kapsulnya).
- Insisi/Eksisi gingiva (sayatan kecil pada bagian dalam atau luar gusi).
- Alveolektomi (tindakan bedah untuk membuang tulang alveolaris yang menonjol baik sebagian maupun seluruhnya).
- Tindakan bedah dengan anestesi umum.
